We’re starting something new for Behavioral Scientist Supporters: First Fridays. On the first Friday of every month, we’ll reserve the day for conversations with Supporters.
The format might evolve over time, but we’ll start with one-on-one conversations with me, Editor-in-Chief Evan Nesterak. We’ve created a set of thirty-minute time slots that span time zones from Sydney to San Francisco on the first Friday of the month.
First Fridays are open to Supporters—readers who have made a monthly or annual donation to help support Behavioral Scientist’s nonprofit mission. You can become a Behavioral Scientist Supporter by making a financial contribution of any amount you choose.
Your contribution goes directly to creating original articles and our weekly newsletter, meaning you and others hear directly from today’s leading behavioral scientists about the biggest ideas, latest research, and key debates.
As a Supporter you also ensure that these articles and the newsletter are open access for all readers around the the world, and you allow us to keep the website ad-free. As an independent nonprofit, your support means we can do all of this and continue to develop new formats and events.
Become a Supporter today and you’ll be signed up to receive announcements about the next First Friday.
At First Fridays, we can chat about a specific question on your mind, topics you want to discuss, or ideas and feedback for Behavioral Scientist. Or, you can come simply with the intention of having a good conversation.
First Fridays builds off of a set of conversations we had with Supporters last fall. We spoke with over two dozen people from eight countries—behavioral scientists and designers, consultants and soccer coaches, professors and activists, teachers and nonprofit leaders, from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Italy, France, the Netherlands, Singapore, and India.
We ended up speaking about much more than the Behavioral Scientist. We traded book and film recommendations, shared strategies for sticking with our newest hobbies, debated recent developments in the field, brainstormed event ideas, and more. Our conversations felt focused, yet they meandered, delightfully.
We wanted to find a way to have these conversations regularly, so we created First Fridays.
We’re looking forward to seeing where our conversations take us.
